OUR STORY
The idea for The Mustard Seed Place Museum of Black Women Innovators (MOBWI) was born from a powerful truth: history has too often ignored or erased the remarkable contributions of Black women. Their brilliance, resilience, and groundbreaking achievements have shaped industries, communities, and cultures, yet their names remain absent from most modern history books and classrooms.
Opening in Winter 2025 in the heart of Coastal Virginia, the Museum of Black Women Innovators (MOBWI) will ensure these pioneers receive the recognition they deserve through immersive exhibits, interactive experiences, and dynamic programming.
The museum is now in its development phase, led by a world-class team of museum designers,
curators, and architects. While planning and construction are underway, we are actively raising funds,
building awareness, and engaging early supporters.
Now is the time, stand with us. Your support ensures their stories are told, celebrated, and preserved.
